Fiddle championship celebrates 64 years

The 64th Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Championship takes place here from Aug. 6 to 10.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Shelburne, the event features Canada’s top fiddlers in competition for more than $15,000 in prizes.

Community events in conjunction with the fiddle championship include camping, a giant Fiddle Parade, an open air market, non-denominational church service and 24-hour meals at the Legion.

The Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Championship starts with the play downs on Aug. 8 at 1 and 7pm, at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex (Shelburne Arena).

The proceeds of the weekend help to support Rotary’s many charitable projects in the local community.
