Body found in Elora Gorge on Thursday

OPP haven't yet named 67-year-old Waterloo man

ELORA –  Police are investigating after a body was found in the Elora Gorge on Thursday afternoon.

Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews were called to the scene near John Street in Elora on Sept. 15 at about 2:40pm.

“It was reported that a person was lying along the Irvine River in the Elora Gorge,” states an OPP press release.

Police say the individual was pronounced dead at scene.

In a Sept. 16 update, police identified the deceased individual as a 67-year-old man from Waterloo, though no name was provided.

The OPP is assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner with the investigation.
