FERGUS – The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games will welcome guests from around the world this weekend.

The festival team has curated an experience that all can enjoy, Scot or not, officials say.

Taking place at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus from Aug. 7 to 9, the event will host a variety of experiences.

“Meet Outlander star John Bell, experience the Tattoo’d in Tradition ceremony, dance the night away at the post-Tattoo concert with viral internet sensation Ally the Piper, share a dram with friends in the Whisky Village, feel the thrall of the massed bands,”  officials stated in a press release.

Guests can also “see a Highland coo (that’s a cow) in the Heritage Village, discover your Scottish heritage at the Genealogy tent, witness the strength and skill of Heavy Events, Highland Dance, and Pipes and Drums competitors, listen to the beating music in the Highland Pub, find your clan at Clans and Heritage, and more.

“The schedule has no shortage of entertainment.”

“We have a great festival in store, don’t miss out,” festival president Christine de Nottbeck stated in the release. “Make sure your tickets are purchased, we are waiting for you.”

Executive director Elizabeth Bender stated, “In true Fergus Scottish Festival fashion, we are once again ready to present an amazing event.

“Whether you are a historian, a competition lover, or you like great music and great food, we have it all, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our 81st event.”

Officials say “the excitement begins” at 5pm on Friday when the gates open.
