Fergus park closed ‘for several hours’ after pieces of glass/pottery found in sand

Shards found buried in base for playground, swings at Webster Park: OPP

FERGUS – Police are asking residents to “exercise caution” at local parks after pieces of glass and pottery were found in the sand at Webster Park here.

Wellington County OPP officials say officers were called on July 20 to investigate “a mischief that occurred sometime overnight” at the park, which is located on Churchill Crescent East in Fergus.

Police say “several pieces of broken glass and pottery” were found “buried in the sand,” which serves as a base for the park’s playground and swing sets.

“The park will be closed for several hours as [Centre Wellington] park staff ensure that all hazards have been removed and that the park is safe to use,” police stated in a press release issued at 1:10pm on July 20.
