Fergus man faces assault, uttering threat charges after domestic incident

FERGUS – A Fergus man faces several charges after what police allege was a drunken encounter that resulted in him assaulting and threatening two people – one of them his spouse.

On Jan. 20 at about 11pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a disturbance at a residence on Courtney Street in Fergus.

“It was reported that an intoxicated male had assaulted and threatened two people in the residence,” police stated, adding everyone involved is known to each other.

A 51-year-old Fergus resident was charged with assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, spousal assault, spousal assault causing bodily harm, and threatening a spouse with death or bodily harm.

The man is to appear in Guelph court on Feb. 23.
