Fergus Grand Theatre’s 10-minute playwriting contest returns
CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Fergus Grand Theatre is welcoming back the 10-minute playwriting contest, in conjunction with World Theatre Day 2027 festivities at the theatre.
Now entering its third year, the contest aims to showcase the creative talent of playwrights and performers within the community and beyond, organizers say.
Call for submissions
Aspiring playwrights can submit their 10-minute plays, with the theme “The New Plan” – whatever that means to the playwright.
The contest is open to all Canadian residents, and most genres of spoken drama are allowed with the exception of musicals.
Only one submission per playwright is permitted, and there is no fee. All submissions must be suitable for an all-ages audience.
Submissions must also be available for performance, not be previously published or produced, and contain no copyrighted material not released for use.

The submission deadline is Dec. 24.
Plays must run 10 minutes (about 10 pages).
