Fergus Grand Theatre set to present Reign

FERGUS – The Fergus Grand Theatre is set to present Reign: The Queens of Blues, Soul and Rock ‘n Roll on Oct. 29 at 7:30pm.

Reign celebrates the extraordinary Black women of the 20th century who changed the course of blues, soul, pop, disco, jazz, rock ’n roll and more, combining live music, storytelling, multimedia and music history, officials say.

Starring renowned recording artists and a Juno-nominee, with Canadian Idol judge Farley Flex as narrator, Reign is full-throttle entertainment but it is also of educational and cultural importance, officials continue.

It highlights the ways in which Black women of the 20th century – from the first Black woman to sing live on radio through to the Queen of Rock n Roll – revolutionized the genres they were a part of (jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, disco and more) and overcame gender and racial barriers to do so.
