FCSSGW acquiring Community TorchLight to ensure continuation of services

GUELPH – Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington (FCSSGW) will acquire Community TorchLight effective Jan. 1, 2020.

This integration is exciting news for the two organizations and the greater Guelph and Wellington communities, officials say.

The evident synergies ensure the continuity of the telephone support services currently offered by Community TorchLight and enhances FCSSGW’s capabilities to provide integrated and seamless services to the communities of Guelph-Wellington in dealing with issues of mental health, trauma, addictions and self-harm.

Tammi Winchester, chair of Community TorchLight, said, “This is a collaborative initiative that is mutually beneficial to both organizations and ensures the longevity and continued success of Community Torchlight’s legacy in serving our most vulnerable.”

Community TorchLight is a volunteer-based organization whose Guelph and Wellington services include an inbound Distress Phone line and an outbound phone (TeleConnect) check in service.

Operations will continue without interruption during the transition of service activities.
