Events scheduled in advance of Drug Poisoning Awareness Day
GUELPH – The Sanguen Health Centre and the Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy are hosting free drug poisoning awareness and response training in advance of Drug Poisoning Awareness Day on Aug. 31.
The event is set for 7pm on Aug. 12 at Arthur Pentecostal Assembly, 121 Charles St. E. in Arthur.
Officials say the drop-in session is open to everyone and will provide practical information about:
- substance use and drug poisonings in Wellington County;
- how to recognize and respond to a drug poisoning;
- local supports and resources available; and
- naloxone training and a naloxone kit to take home.
“No registration is required, and everyone is welcome,” officials stated in a press release.
The event is part of the lead-up to local Drug Poisoning Awareness Day events in Mount Forest on Aug. 20 and in Guelph on Aug. 27.
“Drug Poisoning Awareness Day provides an opportunity to remember those we have lost, support those impacted by drug poisoning, increase awareness and strengthen our community’s ability to respond,” stated drug strategy officials.
