President Vic Palmer welcomed 48 members and guests to the Clifford and District Horticultural Society Christmas potluck meeting and awards evening on Nov.  22 at the community centre in Clifford. Barb Harris announced Ethel Weber would receive the Edna Litt Memorial Award for earning most points in the society’s two flower shows.

The award was accepted by Karen Dowler as Litt was unable to attend. This was her second win.

District 7 director Jane McDonald installed the new executive: president Vic Palmer, past president Georgie Hutchison, treasurer Karen Dowler, secretary Bonnie Whitehead. Directors for 2017 are: Blanche Freeman, Ethel Weber, Helen Braun, Marion Wylie and June Ide. Directors with terms extending into 2018 are Elsie Grummett, Ann Bowen, Barb Harris, Jean Yenssen, Isabel Senek, and, new to the team, Rose Harris. There is still room for a vice-president and four more directors.

Sharon Prieb played the piano while favourite Christmas carols were sung to conclude the festivities.
