Erin parade and Hillsburgh tree lighting mark weekend activities

This weekend marks Santa’s arrival in many communities and Erin is proving to be no exception.

This year’s parade on Nov. 24 is sponsored by the Erin Lions Club and begins at 1pm at McCullogh Drive and moves up the village of Erin Main Street to Fire Station No. 10 where the children can visit with Santa at the end of the parade.

This year’s theme is “A Magical Christmas.”

Completed parade entry application forms should be forwarded to Don Covert (dcovert123@hotmail.com) who is coordinating the entries.

Later that day, Hillsburgh residents will be celebrating once more with their annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:30pm.

Everyone is invited to Hillsburgh’s historic park at 105 Main Street to watch the Christmas Tree come to life and to enjoy the best of the season with family and friends.

There will be hot dogs and hot chocolate served and Santa is expected to make his rounds at 6pm.

In addition, plans are in the works for free public skating at the Hillsburgh Community Centre from 7pm to 8pm.

The event is sponsored by the Hillsburgh and District Lions Club and donations will go to local charities.
