Erin county councilllor launches ‘Love Local Erin’ gift card contest

ERIN – In an effort to support town businesses and encourage locals to shop local, an Erin politician is launching a “Love Local Erin” gift card contest.

It’s easy to enter. Simply email Wellington County’s Erin councillor Jeff Duncan by Valentine’s Day with the subject line “Love Local Erin,” and your name will be entered in a draw.

All prizes are gift cards for local businesses in the amounts of $25, $50 and $100.

Winners can choose the store where they want to shop, whether it’s a convenience store, a farm shop, restaurant, retail store, local tradesperson or coffee shop.

The contest launches on Feb. 4.

“Helping local based businesses and having something fun to do for the community is the goal of the contest,” said Duncan in an email.

“I’m inspired by some wonderful local businesses and hope to inspire local action.”

Duncan noted he is acting as a private citizen and not a councillor in this contest.

“I will purchase the gift cards and make arrangements to get them to the winners,” he said.

“This is a personal thing and not a Wellington County initiative.”

To enter the contest, email Duncan at jeffd@wellington.ca by Feb. 14.

The draw takes place on Feb. 15. Only one entry per email address is permitted.
