Erin appoints new animal control provider, moves to 24-hour service

ERIN – The Town of Erin has announced the appointment of Omega Canine Control Services Inc. as the municipality’s new animal control provider, effective May 12.

As part of this change, the town is now offering animal control response 24-hours a day, enhancing service to the community.

“The council-approved 2025 budget for animal control is $41,616. In 2024, the Town spent $18,000 on animal control services. This year, we have spent $5,300 so far,” said Nina Lecic, director of legislative services and town clerk in an email.

“This allowed the town the opportunity to provide extended animal control hours within the council approved budget.”

“By moving to a 24/7 response model and working with a trusted local provider, we are improving the safety and well-being of both residents and animals in our community,” said Mayor Michael Dehn in a press release.

The company is operated by Robert McIntosh, who previously served as a municipal law enforcement officer.

Under this new arrangement, Omega Canine Control Services will be responsible for all matters related to canine control as outlined in the Town of Erin Dog Control Bylaw #15-57.
