Optimist Clubs from Alma, Arthur, Centre Wellington, Guelph, Moorefield, Minto, Orangeville and Puslinch donated $15,000 to this year’s Empowerment Day event, hosted by Drayton Heights Public School at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph on May 2. Centre Wellington Optimists Lynn Bailey, left, and Jim Dandy, right, presented the cheque at a recent fundraising barbecue. Grade 7 and 8 students on hand to receive the cheques, from left, were: Ali Raynard, Nadia Meselmani, Clare Cashin, Bella Clemmer, Madison Hickey and Alexis Skerritt.
