Elora’s St. Mary Catholic School community rallied to support local food bank

Mitten drive – Elora’s St. Mary Catholic School community has rallied together to support the local Centre Wellington Food Bank this Christmas with a mitten tree and gift card drive. In lieu of a toy drive this year, the annual drive – in its 20th year at St. Mary Catholic School in Elora – shifted to collecting gift cards from local businesses.

The gift card drive encouraged families to donate cards from Brighten Up in Fergus and Magic Pebble Books in Elora, among the other locations, raising $900 ahead of the Dec. 1 deadline. Operating until Dec. 13, the mitten tree has been generously decorated with new and gently used mittens of all sizes. Those interested in contributing to the mitten drive are asked to drop off any new or gently used mittens to the mitten tree in the front hallway at the school until Dec. 13.

Donations will be delivered to the Centre Wellington Food Bank following the conclusion of the drive.
