BELWOOD - The Belwood Lions Club held its Effective Speaking Contest on Feb. 24. Ev Robson presented the plaques to the winners as her late husband, Wayne Robson, was instrumental in getting the Effective Speaking Contest up and running at the Belwood & District Lions Club.

After the English and French Immersion Intermediates finished, the six young Intermediate participants were given 15 minutes to put together a two-minute speech from random topics selected by the committee.

If you would like to take part in the Effective Speaking event, or other events the Lions Club organizes, contact the membership chair at secretary.george@belwoodlions.org and obtain a membership form. “We would love to have you join and serve our community,” said Lion George Woodley, Belwood Lions Club secretary.

The afternoon session ranged from 1 to 3:30pm. The winner in this session was Olivia, third from left, and Sofia, left, took second.
