Edmonton murder suspect arrested in Fergus

Area residents were likely surprised to learn last week that a suspected murderer was living among them.

On Oct. 10 at about 11:15am Wellington County OPP officers, including members of  the Wellington County Crime Unit and the Wellington County Emergency Response Team, arrested a male suspect in an Edmonton homicide.

Police say Daryl Pierre Rivest, 42, was wanted in connection with a 2013 homicide.

“A warrant was issued for him and Edmonton Police Service requested Wellington County OPP’s assistance after the investigation revealed he was staying in Fergus,” police said in an Oct. 10 press release.

“The accused is currently in custody and will be transported to Edmonton, Alberta to face the charge of first degree murder.”
