The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival, taking place Sept. 11 to 15, will feature author readings, musical performances, writing workshops, and much more, all in the village of Eden Mills and within the neighbouring city of Guelph.

The 26th annual festival includes:

- a special Sept. 11 event at Guelph’s Ebar featuring noted music writer Carl Wilson, music blogger/first-time novelist Sean Michaels, and musical performances by Scott Merritt and Sandro Perri;

- an evening  gala on Sept. 12 in Eden Mills;

- a yet-to-be-determined Sept. 13 event at the University of Guelph;

- the traditional Sunday (Sept. 14) of top-tier author readings in Eden Mills; and

- the Hundred Story Wood workshop on Sept. 15, which unites Canadian authors with high school students, eager to teach each other more about the craft of writing.

With the support of a volunteer-run board of directors, the artistic director Kim Lang has worked tremendously hard in programming the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival this year and, once again, her efforts have paid off, officials say.

Some of the most decorated and lauded authors in the world are visiting Eden Mills in September, including Eleanor Catton, Lynn Coady, David Adams Richards, Claire Cameron, Miriam Toews, Steven Galloway, Anne Michaels, Heather O’Neill, Terry Fallis and Gillian Deacon. These and many more represent some of Canada’s finest literary minds.

Officials invite everyone to spend some time on the new festival website to read about these writers and their latest works - and also to purchase tickets for Festival Sunday.

The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival features programming that is all-ages/licensed, primarily in venues that are physically accessible (the Ebar is not).

Tickets for Festival Sunday are now available in the Bookshelf bookstore (also 41 Quebec St. in Guelph) or online via ticketbreak. Tickets for and information about other events will be available soon.
