Conn man charged in early morning crash on Highway 6 in Arthur

ARTHUR – One driver was arrested and another taken to hospital after an early morning two-vehicle crash on the main street of Arthur on Thursday.

Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to the crash on Smith Street (Highway 6) on July 3 at about 7am.

“One driver was taken into custody, and another driver was taken to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” police stated in a press release.

Police say the road was closed between Conestoga Street North and Preston Street North, but reopened after several hours.

James Woods, 25, of Conn, was charged with:

  • dangerous driving causing bodily harm;
  • driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs;
  • failing to remain at the scene of a crash;
  • driving while prohibited; and
  • driving a vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock device.

He is to appear in Guelph court on July 18.
