Duncan, Leila Ruby (nee Giles); passed away peacefully at Dufferin Oaks Nursing Home, Shelburne on January 1, 2011. Leila was the beloved wife of the late Chas. Duncan (1994) leaving her daughter Jean (Keith) Gray and sons Gordon (Donna) and Douglas (Janet), 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren (2 deceased) as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Olive (Giles) Carlson and two older brothers Gordon and Ross Giles. Leila was born and raised in Arthur Township, daughter of Joseph & Violet Giles. The family moved to East Garafraxa in 1937. She met and married Chas. Duncan in 1941 where they farmed together until 1975 when they built a new home on the corner of the farm. In 2004 she moved to Dufferin Oaks in Shelburne where she was well cared for. In 1957 Leila made her decision to serve Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses where she served faithfully and loyally until her death. She was associated with the Grand Valley congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Friends were received at Thomson Funeral Home, Fergus on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 6pm-9pm. A service was held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Watchtower or a charity of your choice.
