A recent  Dueling Pianos Fundraiser in support of the John Black Public School playground raised just over $15,200.

The April 1 event brought in $10,200 through ticket sales, silent auction, bar and song request tip jars.

SM Polymers from Fergus had offered to match the nights proceeds up to $5,000, bringing the fundraising total from the evening up to $15,200.

That puts the school’s total fundraising efforts up to $39,000.

“The night was a huge success and we had an amazing turnout,” said parent volunteer Melissa Mulligan.

“Mike and Joel from Grand Slam Dueling Pianos (GTA) entertained the crowd and had people singing along and dancing all night.”

She added that “the night would not have been a success without all of the hard work from the John Black parent volunteers who all came together to make this fun and unique event a hit.”

Those interested in donating further to help John Black Public School reach its goal of $57,000 for accessible playground equipment for the 350 students and surrounding community, can call the school at 519-843-2665, email melissa@sme-inc.ca or drop into the school’s office.   All donations of $20 or more receive a tax receipt.
