Driver in medical distress hits senior with car
On July 22 at about 2pm Wellington County OPP responded to a call for a person being struck by a motor vehicle on Main Street here.
Police say a northbound Ford Focus “drifted in its lane and struck an 80-year-old man standing next to a parked car before driving from the scene.”
Emergency crews treated one male patient with minor injuries and the OPP located the driver, who was in medical distress and was transported by EMS to local hospital.
“The collision was deemed to be the result of the driver’s medical situation and not driver error,” police stated in press release.
“The road was closed briefly.”
