CLIFFORD – The Drayton Farm Show is back and ready to contribute funding to a charitable organization giving back to the community.

All of this year’s food proceeds will go to supporting the Community Resource Centre (CRC) of North and Centre Wellington.

Funding supports CRC programs offered in the communities, including its outreach and support program.

The program is available to individuals and families living in Mapleton and the surrounding areas.

The two-day farm show, starting on April 8, celebrates the best of Ontario’s farming community  at the Drayton PMD Arena.

When the option to become the show’s food vendor arrived, CRC community engagement and fund development coordinator Ali Kane-DeCaire said the team “jumped at the opportunity because it’s a really well-received community event.”

The Kinsmen Club of Drayton, which hosts the event, reached out to the CRC to fill the spot.

“We’re incredibly grateful to be involved,” Kane-DeCaire said.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to raise funds but also to share more about what we do.”

The Centre provides “programs like our summer snacks program, our backpack program and winter wear program,” Kane-DeCaire said.

The outreach service also branches off to support the homeless and advocacy efforts.

Kane-DeCaire hopes guests will learn about the centre’s other streams of support, such as the EarlyON and child care services.

As for the food, guests can expect walking tacos, burgers, hot dogs, wraps and other “hot ticket items” including pies from Anna Mae’s Bakery and long johns from Hillcrest Home Baking.

The price of food is kept “fair” and “reasonable” Kane-DeCaire said.

She noted the need for helping hands in preparing and serving the food.

“It looks like we’re most in need at this point of some people to help us with the barbecuing piece,” Kane-DeCaire said.

The CRC team is feeling excited to be part of a well-loved event.
