DRAYTON – As the dust settles and the final cleanup wraps up for the Drayton 150 celebration, organizers say moments of generosity continue to surprise and inspire them.
One such moment came from a group that has been a pillar of Drayton’s community for over five decades: the Drayton Kinsmen.
Known for their unwavering commitment to “serving the community’s greatest need,” the Drayton Kinsmen once again stepped up in a big way during the Drayton 150 weekend, organizers state.
In addition to contributing more than 270 volunteer hours to support the festivities, the Kinsmen have now made a donation of $10,000 to the Drayton 150 Legacy Fund.
“This kind of generosity is truly overwhelming,” said a spokesperson for the Drayton 150 Committee.
“The Kinsmen have long been leaders in community service, and this latest act of support will help ensure the spirit of Drayton 150 lives on for generations to come.”
The Drayton 150 Legacy Fund will provide annual contributions to five local organizations: the local food bank, youth centre, agricultural and heritage societies and Legion.
“The Kinsmen’s generous gift strengthens this fund’s foundation and sets a powerful example of community spirit in action,” organizers state.
