Draft meeting schedule adopted by council

Councillors here have recently accepted a consolidated schedule of council and committee of the whole meetings for the year 2014.

While there may be future changes, the preliminary schedule prepared by staff..

The proposed schedule was  arranged keeping statutory holidays and conferences in mind.

To improve efficiency, meetings have been maintained at one committee and one council meeting per month.

And, to minimize the workload leading up to the municipal election on Oct. 27, staff has scheduled one council meeting in the months of July, August, September and October.

Special and public meetings will continue to be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

As in the past, council accepted the suggestion that the township administrative office be closed from Dec. 25, 2013 to Jan. 2, 2014.

For the three working days during the closure period, staff would be expected to cover this time with saved vacation, banked overtime, or take unpaid leave.

The public works department would continue to operate during the holiday season as required and the parks and recreation facilities would operate in accordance with its approved operations

The consolidated schedule of meetings allows staff, the press and the general public to be aware of meeting dates and to view the schedule a year at a glance.
