Doors Open Fergus Elora draws in the crowds

On June 17, Centre Wellington hosted its 10th annual Doors Open event as part of a province wide celebration of community heritage.

Designed to create access, awareness and excitement about local heritage, Doors Open provided residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy sometimes hidden and always interesting places and spaces.

This year the theme for Doors Open was the 150th Anniversary of Confederation and local events provided folks with 150 years plus of local heritage and storytelling with visitors from near and far enjoying several events. The 11 sites included Wellington County Museum and Archives, Elora Cataract Trailway, St. James Anglican Church and Butterfly Garden, Veranda House; Elora Centre for the Arts, Knox Church and Manse, The Jones House; Centre Wellington Municipal Office; the Elora Mill; Marshall Block; and Rosedale Farm.

The annual event was enjoyed by those attending, officials say.
