The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is celebrating 23 years with Donkey Day 2016 on June 12 from 10am to 4pm.

The sanctuary is located at 6981 Conc. 4 in Puslinch Township.

The cost is $15 for adult admission, $5 for child (age 3 to 12) admission, and  $10 for student and senior admission.

The event features the Diamond Dogs, kids’ fun fest, live music, exhibits, and great food, in addition to 90 donkeys and mules.

Donkey Day is the sanctuary’s most important fundraising event as staff and volunteers help these gentle animals live out their lives in peace and dignity.

For more information see thedonkeysanctuary.ca or call 519-836-1697.

Open day hours for 2016 are Sundays from May 1 to Oct. 30, from 10am to 3pm.

In July and August, the sanctuary will open Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm
