Don McPhail served community as mayor, firefighter and service club member
MINTO – Don McPhail, a past mayor of the former Town of Harriston, died on July 26 at the Palmerston and District Hospital at the age of 90.
McPhail, who was mayor of Harriston from 1971 to 1976, also served as a town councillor for several years.
He was also a member of the Kinsmen, K-40, Legion, Shriners and Masonic Lodge and served his community as a volunteer firefighter in Clifford and Harriston.
McPhail was also a member and chair of the Palmerston and District Hospital board.
With his wife Jackie, he operated an automotive, John Deere, and RV business, McPhails of Harriston.
A funeral service was held at Harriston United Church on July 29.
