DNA used to nab alleged thief

GUELPH-ERAMOSA - Police have used a DNA sample to arrest a suspected thief.

On Sept. 16, someone broke into a residence and garage on Jones Baseline and stole a number tools.

Police say investigators found a pry tool and crime scene officers managed to lift a DNA sample from the tool and then identify a suspect.

On Jan. 28, police arrested and charged Matthew George Joseph Butcher, 37, of Owen Sound, with two counts of break and enter.
