The Agricultural Society here hosted its 32nd annual Ambassador of the Fair competition and community barbecue on Sept. 12 and the Ambassador will be at the Fergus Fall Fair this weekend.

The evening featured speeches and impromptu questions for four contestants and the announcement of the winners of the best decorated bale and community display entries.

Contestants for the title of 2010-2011 Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador were Edward Wallace, Alicia Scott, Carly Wing and Chantel Dirksen.

The contestants were judged on their interview and speaking skills, knowledge of the community and local agriculture, poise and presentation.

The judges chose the new ambassador based on those, and a poster board display.

Dirksen was crowned 2010-2011 Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador, Alicia Scott was runner-up and Edward Wallace won the best display award.

Along with the ambassador competition, the community barbecue is a kick-off for the 174th Fergus Fall Fair.

The fair runs this weekend to Sunday at the Fergus Sportsplex.
