ABERFOYLE – Puslinch could see diagnostic ultrasound services in the township as Dr. Manu Kaushik passed one hurdle on Aug. 26.

He delegated at the Puslinch council meeting that day seeking a letter of support from council, which would assist his application with the Ministry of Health.

Kaushik, who opened Morriston Medical Clinic in 2022, said he has room in the building for diagnostic services and has been approached by a company wanting to locate there.

It would be an advantage to patients to have an alternative closer to home, he said.

“It’s difficult to get ultrasound (appointments) for patients. They usually have to travel to Erin or to the ER at Guelph General Hospital.”

Doctors from outside the township could refer patients to Morriston, he said, adding technicians would use a triage system, so patients with the most urgent needs would get priority.

“It’s a basic necessity to do our job,” he told council.

Kaushik said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Joseph Racinsky has written a letter of support and Wellington-Halton Hills North MP Michael Chong is “on board” to write such a letter.

“Township support would go a long way,” he added.

Council praised Kaushik for locating in Puslinch and thanked him for expanding the services he provides.

It voted unanimously to write a letter of support for the proposal.
