GUELPH – Warden Kelly Linton looked beyond Wellington County’s borders for the topic of his opening remarks at the Oct. 31 council meeting.

“Regardless of whether you’re happy with the outcome of the federal election or not, I’m thankful we live in a country where democracy still works. You only have to take a quick scan of countries around the world to recognize that Canada is the envy of the world when it comes to our democracy,” Linton stated.

“Hopefully the federal government works with the province of Ontario to continue to partner with municipalities in making municipalities a priority,” Linton continued.

The warden also congratulated Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong and Perth-Wellington MP John Nater on their Oct. 21 re-election.

“We’re thankful to both Michael and John for representing the County of Wellington on Parliament Hill.”
