DeGroot, Cornelis; of Hanover, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Thursday, September 29, 2011. He was 89. Born in Utrecht, Holland. Son of the late Gerrit and Cornelia (Wijnen) DeGroot. Cornelis was a Registered Practical Nurse at Guelph General Hospital until his retirement. Survived by children George (Wilma) DeGroot of Alliston, Corrie DeGroot of Bentinck Township, Marleen (Doug) McDougall of Fergus, Dianne (Doug) Miller of Bentinck Township, Robert (Sherri) DeGroot of Hanover, grandchildren David (Kayla), Matthew (Amanda), Phillip (Katie), Benjamin, Matthew (Megan), Nathan, Christopher (Cassie), Tyler, Katrina, Blake (Clare) and Aleesha and great grandchild Kinsey. Predeceased by 1st wife Johanna DeGroot and 2nd Wife Jentje DeGroot. Cornelis is the last surviving member of his family. Visitation was held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service was held at Grace United Church, Hanover on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11am. Rev. Rienk Vlietstra officiated. Interment in Hanover Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation were appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Register book available at
