On May 1 the Damascus 4-H Grow Your Own club had their first meeting at Ken and Barb Leslie’s house.

The leaders started off the meeting by introducing themselves to the club members. One of the leaders, Jack Benham taught the group about some different types of trees. The members even got the opportunity to plant some trees around the Leslie’s house despite the bad weather.

After the club members planted some trees they went inside to play a game and get to know the other members better. They spent the rest of the time discussing what plants they were going to grow.

At the end of the meeting everyone got to take home two different types of trees to plant. Some of the trees that were handed out were Black Cherry, Kentucky Coffee, and Red Bud. The next meeting is to be held May 24 at the home of Ken and Barb Leslie.
