Centre Wellington District High School is hosting a unique workshop that will allow members of the school community to make and learn about hand drums.

The workshop will be held on Feb. 10, from 3:30 to 8pm at the school and is open to students, friends and family members.

The Hand Drum Workshop will be led by Phil Davis of Six Nations. Participants will learn how to make a drum, while getting a tremendous opportunity to learn about the teachings of the drum and its role in indigenous culture. The drums will then be donated to the school and board for future use in teachings and drum circles.

The workshop is free to attend, however participants must provide a $100 refundable cheque at the time of registration in order to secure their spot. Cheques will be returned to participants when they arrive at the workshop.

As a way of saying Chi-Miigwetch and thank you, everyone who attends the Hand Drum Workshop will be invited to an upcoming moccasin workshop free of charge.

The moccasin workshop is scheduled for April 7.

It will be conducted by Ojibwe Elder and Pipe Keeper, Glenn Trivett.
