CW Fusion Novice AA travel to Michigan

The CW Fusion Novice AA team travelled to St. Clair’s Shores Michigan the weekend of Jan. 24 to 26, after receiving a special invitation to participate in the International Silver Stick Finals.

The round robin schedule had the team facing two American teams and one Canadian team, with every contest essentially being a must-win game.

The team finished the round robin unbeaten, with wins against the Blue Water Stars 3-1 and the Chicago Hawks 2-1 and a 2-2 tie with the Nickel City Jr. Sons.

The team finished the round robin in second place and qualified for the semi-finals.

The semi-finals had the Fusion facing the Mt. Clemens Wolves and the team battled to a thrilling 2-1 victory.

That earned the Fusion a berth in the finals against the Guelph Gryphons.

The final was another thrilling game with Guelph edging the Fusion 3-2 in an all-Canadian final that was an exciting finish to an exciting weekend.
