CT scanner ready for patients at Groves Hospital

The ribbon on the new CT scanner was cut on March 3, but patients have already been using it. The old CT scanner was purchased in 2009 and has served the community well in both the old and new Groves hospital locations.

Groves Memorial Community Hospital radiologist Dr. Remon Elyas called the new CT scanner a “game changer” at the ceremony on March 3. The new machine is faster, provides clearer images and uses less radiation, he said. “It will change our practice significantly,” he added.

Local businessman Ted Ecclestone led the fundraising initiative for the first CT scanner and has come “full circle” with his involvement this time too.

A sweet way of saying thank you.

FERGUS – Staff and board members cut the ribbon on the new CT scanner at Groves Memorial Community Hospital on March 3. The hospital foundation raised $2 million for the purchase in less than a year thanks to community support, which president and CEO Angela Stanley called “gobsmacking.”
