On March 11 the Groves Hospital Volunteer Association CT Suite served its 1,000th patient.

The CT suite opened Nov. 9 and has been providing diagnostic scans and exams for the Centre and North Wellington communities.

“The CT scanner is making an enormous impact on our ability to provide first rate medical and surgical service to the community” said Dr. Rick Gergovich. “No longer are we sending medically unstable patients down the road to other hospitals.

Emergency and Inpatients are now served the same day at Groves. When the CT Scanner campaign started, waiting times for non-emergency patients were 8 to 12 weeks. Now, nonemergency patients are seen in two days or fewer.

The foundation continues to fundraise for the service, and it is approaching its goal with $1.1-million needed to complete the project.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact the foundation office at 519-843-2010 extension 268 or email to info@grovesfoundation.com.
