Crime Stoppers annual report

Crime Stoppers of Guelph Wellington had another successful year in 2011, for which the community-based crime fighting program credited the investigative skills of its local police partners, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Guelph Police Service.

Over 632 calls to Crime Stoppers last year helped members of law enforcement:

 – lay 145 charges;

– make 67 arrests;

– recover over $23,784 worth of stolen property; and

– help take over $5,578,065 worth of illegal narcotics off the street.

The results were achieved with $6,575 in cash rewards to anonymous callers. That means for every dollar paid in rewards, Crime Stoppers of recovered $852 dollars worth of stolen property or drugs.

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit program, relying on the co-operation between the police, media and community to combat crime such as robberies, break and enters, thefts, drugs and marijuana grow house operations.
