COVID-19 outbreak over at Guelph home

GUELPH – A COVID-19 outbreak at Village of Arbour Trails Retirement Home here has been declared over.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) made the announcement on Sept. 8.

The ending of the Village of Arbour Trails outbreak, first declared on Aug. 27, leaves just one outbreak remaining in the WDGPH region.

On. Aug. 31 public health declared an outbreak at Avalon Care Centre, a nursing home in Orangeville.

Like the Village of Arbour Trails outbreak, the Avalon outbreak involves one staff member.

An outbreak is defined as one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a long-term care home, retirement home or hospital. An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect.
