COVID-19 outbreak declared at Guelph retirement home

GUELPH – Public health officials have declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Village of Arbour Trails Retirement Home.

An Aug. 27 press release from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) stated one staff member at the Guelph home has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Village of Arbour Trails outbreak is the only current outbreak in the WDGPH region and the first since an outbreak at the Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph was declared over on Aug. 4.

An outbreak is defined by public health officials as one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 within a long-term care home, retirement home or hospital.

An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect.
