COVID-19 outbreak declared at Guelph facility

GUELPH – Public health officials have declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Elliott Community in Guelph.

A Nov. 1 update on the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) website states there was one staff case at the facility's retirement home and one staff case at its nursing home.

The Elliott Community outbreak is the only current outbreak in the WDGPH region.

In late October, the health unit declared over outbreaks at Dufferin Oaks in Shelburne (reported on Oct. 16) and at the Village of Arbour Trails home in Guelph (Oct. 13).

An outbreak is defined by public health officials as one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19.

An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect.
