Countys new archives wins national award

The Canadian Museum Association has recognized the Wellington County Museum and Archives for its archives addition with an award for outstanding achievement at its national conference and awards ceremony held in London on April 13.

The 7,500 square foot addition opened last summer. Designed by The Ventin Group of Cambridge, it reflects innovative design features, leadership in green initiatives, and effective use of local resources. It was made possible through a federal-provincial Building Canada grant, the federal museum assistance program and the county.

The award honoured the project’s achievement in the management category for contributing to the overall improvement of the facility, and for exceeding the standards of excellence in professional practice.

Museum and Archives administrator Bonnie Callen accepted the award on behalf of the facility at the gala dinner. Callen retires on April 29.
