MAPLETON – The Grand River Conservation Authority is advising motorists of a plan to close a section of Wellington Road 11 near Conestogo Lake during the week of Oct. 2 to allow crane access to the dam for repairs.

Notice signs went up on Sept. 25 on Wellington Road 11, advising drivers of the potential closure daily from 8am until 5pm from Oct. 2 to 6.

Officials state the crane is only expected to be on-site two of the days – the first day will be Oct. 3 (weather permitting) and the second day is to be determined.

“The hope is to keep the closure to the hours of 9am to 3pm to avoid any issues with student transportation, but there is always a chance of a delay,” stated Conestogo Lake Conservation Area superintendent Brian Hunt.
