County orders noxious weeds destroyed

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The county has issued notice that residents are required to destroy any noxious weeds on their property by June 1.

An April 16 notice from county weed inspectors Brad Carberry and Adam Buitendyk, on behalf of all Wellington County municipalities, is directed to “all persons in possession of any land or a lot in a registered plan of subdivision or on any lot not exceeding 10 acres, in accordance with the Weed Control Act, Statutes of Ontario, 1990.”

The notice warns that unless noxious weeds growing on such lands within county municipalities are destroyed by June 1, and throughout the season, the municipality may then enter the lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging the costs to the landowner.
