The Standard and Poor’s credit rating agency announced that the county’s rating has been raised to AA+ from AA, with a stable outlook.

“The county’s operating performance has remained very strong,” said Warden Chris White. “This upgraded credit rating proves the county is well managed and that council is fiscally responsible balancing needs with resources.”

Some of the areas highlighted include: very low debt burden, exceptional liquidity, strong, stable and expanding economy, strong budgetary performance, strong financial management and improvement in economic development and job growth.

John Green, chair of the County’s Administration, Finance and Personnel Committee, is also pleased.

“This upgraded credit rating will result in a lower cost of borrowing to help finance future capital projects for the county and its member municipalities,” he said.
