A Wellington North councillor wants to get reports when major projects are completed in the township.

Council approved two tenders for major projects at its meeting Monday. The projects include a tender from Cedarwell Excavating Ltd. of $1,099,252.47 for Waterloo Street Reconstruction in Mount Forest and Reeves Construction for $277,561 for work on Bridge 2, Concession 6 north.

Councillor Dan Yake asked for council to receive a report when the work is completed, a request that will be followed-up by treasurer Mike Givens. The treasurer told council both project tenders came in under budget.

“When a project is completed can council get a report so we know the project has been completed to our satisfaction and the actual cost,” Yake said.

Givens said a report could be done for council and would be available quickly after a project is done particularly if it came under budget. The treasurer joked that a quick report would discourage department heads from looking for other projects to put any surplus in to.

He said he would be able to provide reports.
