Councillor wants better signs for triathlons

Guelph-Eramosa council has approved  the use of township roads for two Guelph Lake Triathlons next year.

On Nov. 21 council okayed the annual events - scheduled for June 16 to 17 and Sept. 1 - including the closure of local roads such as Watson, Guelph-Nichol Townline and Sideroad 20. Council seemed to be in favour of the events and the economic spin-off they help bring to the area, but councillor Corey Woods said the organizers need to have more signs, including one at the corner of Highway 6 and Guelph-Nichol Townline to inform drivers.

Woods said that in previous years cars would turn onto the townline and were forced to make “a 15-point” turnaround when they came to Watson Road. Council was in favour of the request for better signs.
