Guelph-Eramosa council approved three budget changes on July 7 totalling over $1.5-million.

Council okayed the expenditures, which do not affect the amount to be raised by taxes or the 2008 residential tax rate.

The changes include:

- $107,946 for the purchase of an asphalt recycling machine, previously approved by council on June 2;

- $1.4-million to reconstruct the 5th Line, previously approved on June 16; and

- $27,255 for the mobile office trailer at the municipal building, first approved June 16.

Most funds for the 5th Line reconstruction - about $1.08-million - come from a provincial grant received this year, while $323,821 will come from the township’s roads rehabilitation reserve. That now sits at a $444,022. The asphalt recycler and trailer purchases will be paid for out of the working fund reserve, which now has a balance of $552,599.

Council was unanimous (John Scott was absent).
