Councillors here are offering support to Minto minor ball as it hosts the Ontario Amateur Softball Association’s mite provincial tournament in Palmerston on Aug. 14 and 15.

A report from Recreation Program Coordinator Matt Lubers noted that Minto Minor Ball provides a good service to the public, specifically the youth of the community.

He said the value of the ball diamonds for the two day tournament is $400, but the organization was asking for a donation of only $150.

Councillor Wayne Martin said the budget for the tournament is about $2,000, and this donation would recognize the town as one of the tournament sponsors.

As the request was approved, Martin invited councillors to drop in at the event.

The tournament will take place in Palmerston’s ball parks on both days, starting at 9am each each.

Opening ceremonies are on Aug. 14 at 11am. For more information on the tournament call 519-343-3808.
